Everyone’s skin is different. But one thing we must all do; whether your skin is prone to acne or not, is facial exfoliation – using the ultimate skincare must-have.
Our skin produces sebum, to waterproof and lubricate the skin. Some of us have overactive sebum production which leads to excessively oily skin and leaves the face looking greasy and oily.
This greasy and oily skin or face makes the face prone to acne and pimples. This is where exfoliation comes in.
The importance of exfoliating your face regularly.
No matter the skin type you have; oily, combination or dry, you should exfoliate your face at least once in a week.
Exfoliation means to remove the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, to reveal the newer skin cells. It is one of the most important aspects of taking care of your skin.
Exfoliation helps to treat so many skin conditions such as acne, pimples, acne scars, blackheads, hyperpigmentation, sunburn, etc.
The ultimate skincare must-have – Electronic Facial Brush.
I was introduced to electronic facial brush a year ago and since then, it has been the ultimate skincare must-have tool in my beauty regimen.
The benefits of using an electronic facial brush.
1. When used on the face and the neck, it helps to remove dead skin cells.
2. It improves the complexion of your skin.
3. It exfoliates your skin, to reveal a healthier-looking skin.
4. It removes impurities, excess oil and debris.
5. When used regularly, it stimulates blood circulation which makes your skin firmer.
6. It can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
7. It ultimately gives you a smoother, younger looking skin.
8. When used regularly and consistently, facial brush ultimately treats acne, pimples and acne scars.
9. It is used to treat hyperpigmentation. It clears out the sun ddamage on your skin that makes it appears darker on some areas.
The features and uses of the facial brush.
There are lots of facial brush from different brands. But I’ll be talking about the particular one I’m using at the moment. Included in the pack is the main unit – you attach the different components to this, 4 detachable heads and a USB cord for charging. This brush set is waterproof so it can be used in the shower.
The uses of each detachable head:
1. Facial brush for a deep facial clean.
It clears away dead skin cells and debris that are blocking your pores, which lead to acne. It cleans your face 10 times more than washing your face with just soap and water.
2. Soft sponge brush.
This brush is for daily facial cleansing. Use it, along with a face wash, to thoroughly clean your face after a hard day’s work. It removes makeup and environmental dirt from your face.
3. 5-ball metal massager.
Use this massager daily to gently massage your face for a more relaxed youthful appearance. Apply you face moisturiser after cleaning or exfoliating your face and use this massager on your face, this will help your skin to better absorb the moisturiser you applied.
Use this to give your face a thorough massage, to improve blood circulation and give your skin healthier look. It reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
How often should you exfoliate?
The number of times you exfoliate your skin depends on the type of skin you have.
If you have an oily skin, it’s recommended that you exfoliate your skin no more than 3 times in a week.
If you have a combination of oily and dry skin, exfoliate 2 times a week.
And if you have a dry skin or you have a sensitive skin, exfoliate only once a week.
It is essential that you apply a good moisturiser after every exfoliation.
Apply sunscreen before leaving the house, no matter your ethnicity or skin type.
Drink lots of water daily. A glowing healthy skin starts from the inside.
Make sure you clean your brushes every 3 days, to avoid re-infecting your skin with bacteria. Soak the brushes in a hot water and soap mixture every 3 days.
